Council to consider $5 surchrge on water bill

The Blytheville City Council will consider an ordinance tonight that would add a $5 fee to the water bill to pay for sewer projects being required by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. This morning, Blytheville Mayor Barrett Harrison said the proposed ordinance is one option for the Council to consider to pay for the $500,000 it must budget over the next five years to satisfy ADEQ, which has Blytheville under a consent order for inflow and infiltration issues and a lack of back-up power.. ...

Accident closes bridge at Caruthersville for four hours

Motorists were snarled for around four hours Monday afternoon after a barge ran into the Mississippi River Bridge between Caruthersville and Dyersburg.
