'Swag Fest' is Saturday

A festival for youths in grades 5-12 will held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Blytheville High School gymnasium. Called a "youth swag fest," the event will include free food, games, prizes and a motorcycle show. There is no admission fee, but youths are asked to fill out a registration form so that the organizers know how many will be there. Registration forms are available at Blytheville schools and can be turned into the school counselors...

City says landowner holding up project

A property owner is the lone obstacle in starting needed sewer work on Lockard Street, Blytheville Wastewater superintendent Kenneth Ellis told members of the Blytheville City Council as he showed them the property Tuesday afternoon. Ellis said the potential project is the last of the six sewer jobs -- funded mostly by the Federal Emergency Management Agency -- and the state of Arkansas is holding its 12.5 percent reimbursement of the other five projects until the Lockard one is completed...

Shots being investigated By RICK HARRIS Blytheville Courier News Blytheville Police are investigating the theft of a car and the report of shots fired at another vehicle from Monday afternoon, according to reports. At 5:35 p.m., officers were called to the 400 block of Kay, where Cyntwynet Hopkins reported her silver 1999 Cadillac Deville was parked in her front yard Monday when she left for work at 7:30 a.m., and when she returned home at 5 p.m., the vehicle was gone. ...
