Mrs. Leonia Junearick Jones was born May 14, 1951, in Winstonville, Mississippi to the late Oleather Junearick and Richard Johnson. She departed this life on January 17, 2018 at Osceola Therapy Living Center in Osceola at the age of 66.

Her parents; three brothers, O.D. Stancle, Jessie Junearick and Earl Junearick; and three sisters, Bertha Lee Junearick, Elizabeth Johnson and Willie Mae Sanders preceded her in death.

She- confessed a life in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. J.J. Johnson in Winstonville, Mississippi. She attended John F. Kennedy High School in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. On July 04, 1981 Leonia and James Henry Jones joined together in holy matrimony at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.

Onie, as she was affectionately called, had a love for laughter and seeing others smile. She took that same spirit to American Greeting where she worked various roles for over 15 years. Several years after leaving AG, she developed a love for children and opened her home as a foster parent in the mid-nineties and soon became Mama Leonia to those she opened her home to. Onie was a dedicated and devoted foster parent from the 90’s until 2017. She also worked as a substitute teacher for the Blytheville area schools.

Onie leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, James Henry Jones of the home; a daughter, Tamara Junearick Echols of Atlanta, Ga.; one step-daughter, Tynisha Jones of Blytheville; three sons, Cedric (Robbie) Junearick of Huntsville, Ala., Harold Beverly of Little Rock and Ernest Jordan Beverly of Jonesboro; one step-son, Elder James (Daphne) Henry Jones, Jr. of Blytheville; five sisters, Minnie Rankin and Thelma Jean Stancle, both of Blytheville, and Debra (Jim)Phillips of Omaha, Neb., Emma Jones Bryant of Los Angeles, Calif. and Lealer ( Larry) Jones Johnson, of Berkley, Ill.; two brothers, Gegiets (Teresa) Stancle of Zion, Ill. and Eddie Stancle of Blytheville; eight granddaughters, one grandson, a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, with the funeral service will follow at noon at First Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
