Robert C. Kuykendall

Mr. Robert C. Kuykendall, 86, of Blytheville, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Born May 25, 1928, to the late John Dudley Kuykendall and Lottie Banks Kuykendall, he was a 1948 graduate of Harrison High School. He attended Florida A&M Univesity and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before being honorably discharged. He was a Mason and a member of St. Andrew Lodge #131. He returned to Blytheville a began his farming career. An astute businessman, he was also a concrete finisher. He was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as the Sunday school superintendent, usher, deacon board chairman and trustee.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents; one son, Sheridan; one sister, Allie; and three brothers, John, McDonald and Fred.

Mr. Kuykendall leaves his wife, Ann C. Kuykendall;

Five daughters, Karen Blanchard of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Darnell McCoy of Mary Ester, Florida, Greta (Addison) Martin of Raliegh, North Carolina, Arnetta (Keith) Slaughter of Atlanta, Georgia, and Regina (Tony) Gilbert of Charleston, Illinois;

Two sons, Robert (Erma) Kuykendall of Little Rock and Donald Kuykendall of Blytheville;

Three sisters, Laura Hughes of Chicago, Vernice Stovall of Nashville, Tennessee, Queen Esther Watson of Greenville, Mississippi; and

Twenty grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Odale Jones, pastor, and the Rev. J.L. Williams giving the eulogies. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
