The Rev. F. Roland Chappell (Frank Roland Chappell), 83, of Dell, passed from this life Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born to William F. and Maggie Bennett Chappell in London, Arkansas, he was a resident of Dell and the surrounding area for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blytheville and a retired minister.

Bro. Chappell was a very faithful pastor at several churches and went wherever God would send him. He was a man who exhibited many traits in his lifetime. God's calling led him through three states -- Bragg City, Missouri; Powderly, Texas; Iola, Texas; Armorel, Arkansas; and finally Dell, Arkansas, where he retired from the Dell Baptist Church. Bro. Chappell loved photography, especially nature photos. He also loved working with wood and loved to see how the final result turned out.

Bro. Chappell was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Janie Sturch Chappell; three brothers, William F. Chappell Jr., Gregg Orvan Chappell and Lewis Chappell; and five sisters, Ruth Kinsey, Lela Mathis, Zela Creekmore, Elsie Medlin and Jean Goldman.

He is survived by his daughter, Ruth Ann Chappell of the home, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
