Sylvester 'Jack' Whimper Young

Mr. Sylvester "Jack" Whimper Young, 61, of Blytheville, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro. Born to the late Vernice Whimper Lewis, he attended Harrison High School. After graduation he worked for MCAEOC in Blytheville and then moved to Wichita, Kan., where he worked for Key Property Management.

In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Terry Lavender; two sisters, Genice Whimper Fountain Stricklin and Diane Whimper; and his neighbors, Mrs. Strong, Velma White and L.T. Strong.

Mr. Young leaves three daughters, Stephanie Young of Blytheville, Citia Wells of Jonosboro and Sheliah McKinney-Joyner of Michigan;

Four sons, Jah'nel Young of Wichita, Kan., Nathaniel (and Nikkie) Moore, Marcus Young and Cedric Jones, all of Blytheville;

Two brothers, Bobby Young of Kansas and Ricky Whimper of Mississippi;

One special niece, Karen Whimper King; and

A host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at New. Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Anderson and the Rev. Brian Olden officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home in Blytheville.
