Quorum Court approves drug control fund

The Mississippi County Quorum Court met for their regular monthly session Tuesday evening with 10 of the 11 justices present. In addition to giving regular commitee and financial reports, they also voted to allow the Sherriff's Department to create a "drug control fund." Lastly, the court also agreed, upon the recommendation of the QC Planning and Development Committee, to appropriate up to $630,000 of Economic Development Funds to perform both an appraisal of the former Snyder Tire Building and then to purchase the building.. ...

Rape charges dismissed in Allmon case

Child rape charges have been dismissed against a local man, according to case prosecutors. In November, James Allmon, 48, was arrested by the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department (MCSD) and charged with rape.
