ARMOREL--The Armorel junior boys and girls came away with wins Monday night against Rector. BOYS Armorel 53, Piggott 18 Armorel outscored Rector, 22-1 in the third period Monday night on their way to a 53-18 win at Armorel. The Tigers led 13-6 after one, 29-14 at halftime and 51-15 heading into the fourth. Andrew Lannon and Logan Blankenship led the Tigers with 12 points a piece. Pirates open season with loss to PHS

PIGGOTT--The Gosnell Pirates dropped their first game of the year in a 75-70 road loss to Piggott Tuesday night. Piggott converted 28 of 41 foul shots as three Pirates fouled out of the ball game. Rod Jones led the Pirates with 36 points and 12 boards, Will Rose scored 12, D.J. Jones chipped in 11 and Cody Day grabbed 12 rebounds...

3-4A champion Pirates host Star City in 2nd round

The Gosnell Pirates return to action Friday night in the second round of the 4A state playoffs. They'll host the Star City Bulldogs at 7 p.m. at J.W. Rea Stadium. The last time fans saw Gosnell (9-1, 7-0 3-4A) two weeks ago, the Pirates defeated the Valley View Blazers, 14-10, to claim their first conference championship since 2010. In the process, they completed an undefeated conference season earning them a top seed, a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs...
