Albert “Gene” Rhodes

Albert “Gene” Rhodes, 79, passed away at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 14, 1939 in Blytheville to Eddie Rhodes and Evlynn Ledbetter Rhodes. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1956-1960.

He was a lifelong truck driver. He loved to fish, play with his beloved dog “Peppy”, and being around family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kay Pulley; and a nephew, Dennis Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Hargett Rhodes, of the home;

Five sons: Evan (Mandy) Rhodes of Folsom LA, Jeff (Brandy) Rhodes of Steele, Tony (Angie) Rhodes of Caldwell, MO, Kevin Rhodes and Carl Rhodes, both of Shelton WA;

One step-son: David (Anetha) Hill of Heber Springs;

One sister: Gail (Robert Earl) Davis of Gosnell;

Three brothers: Ed Rhodes and Van Rhodes, both of Gosnell and Rodney (Paula) Rhodes of Meridian MS;

11 grandchildren;

A special niece, Shelly Richardson, of Gosnell;

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Carney Funeral Home in Blytheville, with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00. Burial will follow in Carney Cemetery.
