Vennie Carpenter Davis Jones, 87, of Blytheville answered the call on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 of our Lord and Savior surrounded by loved ones and was gracefully escorted to take her place in her heavenly home. Vennie was born May 29, 1931 in Money, Mississippi to Isaac Newton and Beauty House Carpenter, and was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church serving on the Mother’s Board and sang in the choir.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands James Willie Davis, Sr. and George Jones, sons Terry Wayne and Joseph.

Those left to cherish her memories are eight daughters, Ellen (Bishop M.L) Smith of Gosnell; Billie (James) Brown of Blytheville; Bobbie (Superintendent Jonathan) Platt of Wichita, Kansas; Jeanette (Charles) Nolden of Blytheville; Martha (Ronnie) Thomas of Memphis; Linda Davis of Blytheville; Peggy (Dexter) Anderson of Blytheville; Debra (Reed) Wheeler, Sr. of Hannibal, Missouri; Venice (Allen) Campbell of Blytheville; three sons, Willie James Davis of Blytheville, Bishop Roy (Lisa) Davis of Memphis, Sammy (Willia) Davis of Memphis; two brothers, Tepolian Carpenter of Greenwood, Mississippi, and Jessie Lee Carpenter of Atlanta; 39 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Church, 501 East McHaney, Blytheville. Bishop Roy Davis will deliver the eulogy with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
