John L. Mitchell

John L. Mitchell, 68, of Blytheville, passed from this life on Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home.

John was born in Blytheville to James and Sadie Tarpy Mitchell. John was the former jeweler of Treasure Jeweler and was of the Catholic faith. John served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 and the VFW. John loved gardening and would grow a vegetable garden and share the produce with his neighbors. John enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Mitchell.

John leaves his wife, Katherine Jones Mitchell of the home; four children, Leslie Mitchell and Curt of Houston, Texas, Sarah Roberson and T.J. of Cooter, Missouri, John Michael Mitchell and Ginger of Gosnell, and James Mitchell of Blytheville; one brother, Bill Mitchell of Blytheville; two sisters, Betty Austin and Gene of Neosho, Missouri and Margaret Jenkins and Johnny of Armorel; six grandchildren, Jason Mitchell and Ryan, Ashley Walton, Justin Walton, Kyle Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, Alexis Mitchell, Taylor Cole, Weston Taylor, Zander Roberson and Grayson Roberson; four great-grandchildren, Alayna Mitchell, Alyssa Odom, Aaliyah Odom, and Trinity Odom; and family, Steven and Keisha Walker.

A Celebration of John’s life will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Thomas J. Hart officiating.
