Tigers hold off Mustangs

ARMOREL The Armorel Tigers held a 9-0 lead heading into the sixth inning. However, the Tigers struggled in the sixth inning and 1A-2A conference opponent the Buffalo Island Central Mustangs crossed the plate six times to cut the Tigers; lead to three.

The Tigers added another run in the bottom of the sixth and they went on to defeat the Mustangs, 10-6.

AHS jumped out to a six-run lead in the first inning and then added two more runs in the second inning to lead 8-0. They added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Leading the offense for the Tigers was Blaine McCormick (run scored), Brock Elliott (1-4 with a run scored), Brett Alan Harris (three runs scored), Travis Southern (1-3 with two RBIs and a run scored), Brayden Hohn (1-3 with two RBIs and a run scored), Wesley Walls (run scored), CJ Simmons (run scored), Weston Hollingsead ( 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored) and Matt Wyatt (1-3 with an RBI).

Harris pitched five and a third Wednesday night to pick up the win. He struck out 10 Mustang batters, allowed three runs and six walks on one hit.

Elliott came in to pitch an inning and two-thirds. He allowed three runs, one hit and walked one batter. He had one strikeout and also pegged three Mustang batters.

The Tigers played the EPC Warriors Thursday, on the road, and defeated the Warriors 9-7. The Tigers traveled to Lake City Friday, but results were unavailable at press time.
