Ricky Wayne (Rocky) Hammock

Monday, March 26, 2018

Ricky Wayne (Rocky) Hammock, 51, of Blytheville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was born in Memphis TN on November 18, 1966 to William Henry Hammock and Shirley Marie Sanders Hammock. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was employed with Greenpoint AG for approximately 1 ½ years. Previously he had work for CPS for 15 years where he enjoyed working with Dowell Conley and Tim Myers. He worked in the Agriculture business for more than 30 years.

Rocky’s favorite hobbies were fishing (especially for crappie and catfish), camping, and riding motorcycles. He was also a big collector of antique model cars, motorcycles, Coca-Cola and Harley-Davidson memorabilia. He was a master griller and loved to have family barbeques. His specialties were pork steak and chicken legs. His favorite foods were ribs, fish, steak and barbeque.

Rocky called himself a “wheeler-dealer” in that he could take old motorcycles, 4-wheelers, etc., repair them to look like new, sell them and make money. He was a jack-of-all trades. His motto was, “Big Daddy Paw – He Can Do It All”. He was a big cut-up, loved to joke and never met a stranger.

He loved country music: George Jones, Hank Williams, Jr. and Johnny Cash were his favorite recording artists. Rocky was a big football fan. He liked the Razorbacks and the Patriots. He was a real outdoorsman. He loved being outside, and his dog, Izzy, a Chinese Pug, went with him everywhere.

He enjoyed spending time with his family. He had special nick-names for all his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighborhood kids. They called him Paw-Paw. They loved him dearly, and he was everything to his special needs grandchild, Brock. His mother said that he was a “good kid”, and his family said that he was an awesome son, brother, father, uncle, and grandpa. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Hammock; his grandmother, Mae Brown; his step-father, James Lovelady; and a special aunt, Judy Hutcherson.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 30 years, Teena Hammock, of Blytheville;

Three daughters: Heather Criswell, Tabitha (Marcus) Hammock, and Lexus Wilson all of Blytheville;

His mother, Shirley Lovelady, of Blytheville;

His father-in-law, Billy Criswell of Blytheville;

Six grandchildren: Braxton, Brayden, Brock (Paw-Paw’s sidekick who he called “Little Rock”), Brodie, Piper Rose, and Fitz;

Three brothers: Scotty (Pat) Hammock of Blytheville, William (Laura) Binkley and Jerry Lyn Tacker, both of Ripley TN;

Six sisters: Debbie McCone of Blytheville, Sandra (Danny) West of Burdette, Tammy (Tommy) Wrinkles of Blytheville, Kay Hammock and Melissa Mireles both of Blytheville, and Bobbie (Bert) Carter of Jonesboro.

Two nieces that he helped raise: Rhonda (Bobby) Young and Jennifer Bragg.

Numerous “bonus” children who thought of him as a second Dad.

Three best friends: Jessie Herron, Mark VanDepol, and Jim Smart.

And many other family and friends, too many to mention, who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 28th, at 12:00 noon in Carney Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Russell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery.
