Blytheville’s Treay Jamison goes after the loose ball against Nettleton on Tuesday night.

The Blytheville Chickasaws were swept in the two regular season games with 5A-East rival the Nettleton Raiders.

The Raiders won the first meeting 60-59 on a floater by guard Kevin Fulton as time expired on January 9.

Tuesday, however, the Chicks led Nettleton 50-49 with 27.7 seconds left in the game. Chickasaws senior guard Treay Jamison missed the front end of a one-and-one.

The Raiders capitalized and went ahead 51-50.

BHS then turned the ball over and the Raiders hit both free throw attempts to take a three-point lead with nine seconds remaining.

Chickasaw forward Winston Peace's three-pointer at the buzzer clanked off the front iron and the Raiders rebounded to seal the deal.

BHS led 28-22 after the first half and led 39-33 heading into the final quarter.

Chickasaw senior guard Tony Newmy Jr. led the Chickasaws with 15 points. Peace chipped in 12 points and Jaurous Haynes added nine points.

The Lady Chicks were defeated 80-30 by the top 5A team in the state of Arkansas, the Nettleton Lady Raiders.

NHS led 54-20 at the half.

Leading the Lady Chickasaws was Alindavia Lockett with 10 points. Terika Dillard chipped in six points and Laurissa Campbell added five points.

The Chickasaws and Lady Chickasaws will travel to Forrest City Friday to take on the Mustangs. Next Tuesday the Chickasaws will have their Senior Night against the Jonesboro Hurricane.
