Mrs. Mattie Dean Gill, 71, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mattie was born in Steele, Missouri to Streety and Lizzie (Shuburte) Young. She was retired from Motor Appliance Corporation and was a member of Dell Baptist Church. Mattie lived most of her life in Blytheville and her children were her life. She enjoyed yardwork, especially working in her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Gill, Jr.; her parents; three brothers, Floyd, Lloyd, and Ed Young; three sisters, Linda Kelley, Rhonda Young and Nancy Young; and one great grandson, Caleb Morgan.

Mattie leaves six children, Norma Hines (John) of Dell, Carol Spence (Terry) of Blytheville, Lynda Thompson (Larry) of Macon, Missouri, Cynthia Michener (Joe) of Leachville, James Gill, III of Breckenridge, Colorado, and Jennifer Goodman (Lois Whitsit) of Conway, Arkansas; two brothers, Bobby Young (Ramona) of Lakeview, Arkansas and James Young of Jackson, Tennessee; six sisters, Maxine Kelley of Cardwell, Missouri, Brenda Conner of Blytheville, Ann Bryan (Roy) of West Memphis, Marie Lee of Jackson, Mississippi, Sheila Reid (Andy) of Paragould and Connie White (Sid) of Blytheville; 11 grandchildren, TJ Cole (Sarah), Tony Cole, Sylvia Lawson (Patrick), Dixie Hines, Holly Bearden, Josh Gill, Ashley Hines, Ben Gill, Megan McMoran, Sam Goodman and Zach Bearden; 15 great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Helen Payne and Jan Brees.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell King, Jr and Rev. Sunny Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
