Bishop Roscoe Roberson, 89, of Blytheville quietly departed this life on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Saint Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born on February 16, 1928 in Greensburg, Louisiana to Martha Coleman and Ruben Roberson. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was employed by the Mississippi County Juvenile Probation System where he served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for 14 years.

At an early age he accepted his call and was baptized. In March 1953 he joined the Israel Universal Divine Spiritual Church of Christ Organization under the leadership of Bishop E. J. Johnson. After been a faithful member, Roscoe was ordained as a minister in August 1956.

While serving as a minister within the organization in September 1961 Roscoe moved from Louisiana to Blytheville.

In March 1973 He joined and pastored Jeremiah Spiritual Church on Coleridge Street in Blytheville, where he served as a faithful pastor of the church for 12 years.

In 1984 he organized and became the full-time pastor of Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church. July of 1984 he was consecrated to the Office of Bishop by the Israel Universal Divine Spiritual Churches of Christ and also served as Overseer for the State of Arkansas.

The Bishop was dedicated to and loved Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church serving faithfully there for more than 33 years.

Bishop Roscoe Roberson was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Richard Robertson, Freddie Robertson, Willie Robertson, AJ Robertson and Emile Robertson; four sisters, Nellie Mae Muse, Lula Grimes, Peggy Hughes and Emma Robertson and one son, Leroy Roberson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Geraldine Robertson Johnson; seven grandchildren, Leroy Robertson, Jr, Krystal Nicole Robertson Lewis, Christopher Robertson, Robin Johnson Sims, Russel L. Johnson, Robert L. Johnson, Jr. and Gerald R. Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Sims, Justice Sims, Rian Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Robert L. Johnson III, Rylee Nicole Johnson and Jaylen Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church, 1100 South Lake Street in Blytheville.

Funeral services for Bishop Roberson will be conducted Saturday December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Jeremiah Spiritual Church. Bishop Randy Crenshaw will deliver the eulogy and burial will be in Baton Rouge, La.
