John Ridge, 33, of Lake City was arrested Wednesday by the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office on a felony bench warrant in connection with the fatal accident that occurred on June 24 and took the life of Ken Jackson, Assistant Director of the Arts Council of Mississippi County and co-owner of Arkham Comics on Main Street in Blytheville. Ridge has been charged with negligent homicide while intoxicated.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, the two-car crash occurred around 2:13 p.m. on Highway 18 near County Road 945, as the 53-year-old Jackson of Blytheville was driving westbound in his 2004 Buick and driver John Ridge of Lake City crossed the centerline in his eastbound 2005 Nissan and apparently caused the head-on collision.

Ridge and a 14-year old passenger in Jackson’s care were both transported to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis with injuries.

Originally from Chicago, Jackson moved to Keiser in 1978 and after graduating from Rivercrest High School, he served in the United States Air Force until his discharge in 1992. He, along with his wife Sarah and their children, have been Blytheville residents ever since.

More details regarding Ridge’s arrest are expected to be released on Thursday. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
