Mrs. Lillie Gee Martin

Mrs. Lillie Gee Martin, 91, of College Station, Texas and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her son‘s home in College Station, Texas.

Lille was born in Ripley, Tennessee to Jordan and Elizabeth (Bell) Presnell. Lillie served her family all her life. As the oldest of a household full of girls, Lillie helped to raise her younger sisters in Yarbro. She was very active in her church and loved the music. She taught Sunday school and organized meals for people who needed care. As a young widow, she raised two children. In 1958, she married Floyd Martin. They lived in Chicago for a season and both worked at Chicago Lock Company, before returning to Blytheville to live near family again. Lillie and Floyd made wonderful memories at M & K Restaurant in Blytheville during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s while cooking and baking for the local community. They had one son, Floyd (Robert). M & K Restaurant relocated to LaPort, Texas in the 1980’s. Later she and Floyd and their son Robert ran a successful maintenance company in College Station, Texas. Floyd and Lillie enjoyed 49 wonderful years together before his passing in 2007. She was a woman who prayed and knew God’s word. She loved her family, especially the little ones. She loved music, especially George Jones, doing word search puzzles, traveling to see new places and dinners with family. Lille will be missed by all who knew her and especially by her treasured four-legged babies, Buster and Gracie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; and her parents.

Lillie leave her three children, JoAnn Knight of Deer Park, Texas, Charles Robert Downing of Willis, Texas, and Floyd Robert Martin and his wife Kathy of College Station, Texas; three sisters, Edna Bratcher of Wichita Falls, Texas, Billie Smith of Louisville, Kentucky and Bonnie Stolt of Bryan, Texas; two grandchildren, Wayne Knight of Deer Park, Texas and Paul Downing of Houston, Texas; and nieces and nephews, who she loved her very much.

The family would like to thank Traditions Health Care and Hospice Services, her nurses, and caregiver, Jean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to your local animal shelter and to tell your family how much they mean to you. Lillie would like that very much. “See you on the other side of the rainbow, Mom.”

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 11 in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
