Mr. Jesse Adams, Jr.

Mr. Jesse Adams, Jr., 64, of Blytheville entered into eternal life August 16, 2017 at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro. Born January 15, 1953 in Hermondale, Missouri to Rosie Lee Jefferson and Jessie Adams, Sr. and raised by Clarence Johnson. At an early age, Jesse professed his hope in Christ and joined Shady Grove Church.

Jesse entered the United States Navy on August 31, 1971 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in San Diego, Calif. and served in Sasebo, Japan. He was an avid reader and enjoyed racing and restoring muscle cars.

He found his way back to Christ later in life and was an active member and a deacon at Open Door House of Prayer Church.

He was preceded in death by his Papa, Clarence Johnson; his father, Jesse Adams, Sr.; mother-in-law, Melisa Sutton and a niece Markita Jackson.

Jessie leaves to forever cherish his memory his devoted wife of 40 years, Ethel Jean Adams of the home; one son, Timothy (Toniaa) Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; his loving mother, Rosie Lee Johnson of Blytheville; one brother, Clarence Johnson of Bartlett, Tenn.; four sisters, Teressa Wells of Blytheville, Ella (Jerry) Hudlin of Edwardsville, Ill., Juanita (Eddie, Jr.) Brown of Gosnell and Inez Johnson Ross of St. Louis, Mo.; one uncle, Daniel Johnson of Conway; and a host of cousins and close relatives. He was blessed with many nieces and nephews and cherished his role as “Grandpa” to Reesie (George) Triplett-Parnell, Quensha Triplett, Robyn Triplett, Trenton Smith, Travis Smith, Kevin Smith and Demarcus Smith and “Great Grandpa” to Aubrey and Zuri.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday August 18, 2017 in the chapel of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday August 19, 2017 at New Mount Olive MB Church, 534 Maple Street in Blytheville, Reverend Douglas Echols is the pastor. Dr. Henry Mays is the eulogist with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Blytheville.

McDonald-Horne funeral directors are entrusted with the services and arrangements.
