Monday, July 31, 2017

Mr. Jerry Young Beamon “Foxx” was born July 19, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee, the fifth child of Pleas Herman Beamon, Sr. and Viola Young Beamon. Jerry professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He attended Hyde Park Elementary and later graduated from Manassas High School in 1957. He attended Owens Business College in 1958 and in 1959 he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force.

While in the Air Force Jerry received several awards such as, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with First and Second Oak Leaf Clusters and an Outstanding Service Medal from August 1982 to October 1984. He also received an award for his outstanding support as the Chief of Production Control from the Civil Engineering Squadron, as well as a membership certificate for, the St. Andrew Lodge No. 131 located in Blytheville, where he was a 33 Degree mason.

Jerry retired from the Air Force after 30 years of service and later worked as a housing inspector on the Blytheville Air Force Base. He was smart, witty and had a great sense of humor. He was fun to be around, loved by many and was commonly known by his nickname “Foxx”.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Pleas and Viola Beamon; three brothers; and his son, Reginald Beamon.

In 1999 Jerry united in holy matrimony with Jeanneen Beamon and through this union, a new life began. Foxx would always say, “I just want to be loved” and that's what he got - a family that loved him unconditionally.

With Jesus, wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grands by his side, there was nothing he couldn't do. His heart was pure and his love toward others never wavered.

On July 23, 2017, Jerry Young Beamon transitioned from this life into eternity.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanneen Beamon of Blytheville, that stood by his side to the very end; along with his daughters, Stacey Turner and Pastors Toya (Fred) Wright, all of Blytheville; sons, Damien Smith of San Antonio, Texas and Peter Beamon of Blytheville; one sibling, Katherine Reed of Memphis, Tennessee; one special nephew, Harvey Reid Jr.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grans, cousins and friends.
