A woman who ran out of Blytheville District Court Monday morning has surrendered to police, Blytheville Police Department Capt. Scott Adams said Saturday.

According to police reports, Judge Shannon Langston ordered that Ayeshia Farris be taken into custody and she fled the courtroom around 10:20 a.m. Monday, getting into a vehicle and driving away.

Initially a passenger in the vehicle, Dequan Sims, 18, was arrested for fleeing and no driver's license.

According to the police report, after running out of the courtroom, Farris got into a blue Chevrolet Impala and sped off.

The report said the vehicle ran a stop sign at First and Main and nearly hit four cars in the rear and almost collided with another head-on during the chase.

The vehicle then stopped at First and Sycamore, and the driver, Farris, exited and ran west, according to the report.

The passenger, Sims, then fled in the vehicle, according to the report.

Police apprehended Sims and transported him to the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office.

Farris faces charges of escape, reckless driving, fleeing and driving on suspended license.
