Sims, Harvey sign with CRC
Blytheville Chickasaw head coach Randy Smith watched as seniors Tyler Sims and Brandon Harvey signed a letter of intent with the Crowley’s Ridge College Pioneers on Wednesday.
“Two things you can say about both of these kids are they are both really good kids and both work hard,” Smith says. “ That’s two things that are really important. I think their makeup will probably get them as far as their ability and I think the sky is the limit on ability. I think both of these kids have a high ceiling...”
Smith also mentioned that going to a program and getting to do it everyday will help them succeed but the main thing is receiving an education.
“We’re just proud to see both of them get a chance to further their education and get to play baseball for a longer period of time,” Smith said.
“Both of them showed a lot of potential and had a good work ethic, so I think they’ll really help us out,” Crowley’s Ridge head baseball coach Brenden Camp said.
Harvey says that CRC program really helped him choose CRC over other schools.
“They had a nice facility and I liked their program… everybody has a chance to play, and they have a varsity and junior varsity program,” Harvey said. “ I also liked the coaching staff.”
Sims says that CRC felt like home to him.
“First of all, I liked the campus, I liked the coaches and how they ran their program,” Sims said. “ I liked the student to teacher ratio there, and I just felt like home there so that’s where I wanted to go.”
Sims and Harvey both smiled and laughed when asked about the other but both are ready to start baseball at the next level.
“I’ve been playing with Tyler for about three years now, and we’ve came a long way since 10th grade to senior year and both did our thing and ready to go compete,” Harvey said.
“Me and Brandon have been close friends for awhile, we played together and did a lot of things together. I’m really close with him,” Sims said. “I enjoy getting to further my career with my best friend and it’s an honor.”
