Lady Pirates knock off AHS

ARMORELó The Gosnell Lady Pirates slipped past Mississippi County opponent, the Armorel Lady Tigers, 7-5, after early errors by the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to 4-1 lead after the first inning but after several errors by the Lady Tigers in the top of the second the Lady Pirates put five runs on the board to take a 6-4 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Tigers added a run to bring the score to, 6-5. The Lady Pirates would score another run in the last inning to prevail over Lady Tigers, 7-5.

Leading the offense for the Lady Tigers were Madison Ciepela (1-3 with a run scored), Olivia Luttrell ( 2-4 with a run scored), Abby Kennedy (1-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored), McKinley Carr (1-4 with a run scored and RBI) and Madison Beal (2-4 with an RBI).

Leading the offense for the Lady Pirates were Callie Kennemore (2-3 with a run scored), Alyssa Griffen (2-4 with two runs scored), Macie Cain (3-4 with a run scored), Kaylee Miller (4-4), Haleigh Toombs (1-3 with a run scored) and Callie Robinson (1-3 with a run scored).

The Lady Tigers traveled to face 1A/2A conference opponent the Cross County Lady Thunderbirds Tuesday, while the Lady Pirates hosted 3A/ 4A Mississippi County opponent the Manila Lady Lions. Results of those games were unavailable at press time.
