GOSNELLó The Gosnell Pirates defeated the Kennett Indians Thursday, 3-1.

The Pirates were helped by a three-run fifth inning after the Indians struck first in the top of the third.

Leading the Pirates offense were Ronnie McShan (1-3 with a run scored), Andy Roberts (1-4 with a run scored), Austin Wren (1-3 with a run scored), Devin Burks (1-3), Hunter Jolly (1-3), Matthew Miller (1-2) and Tabari Herron (1-2).

Guy Bennett started the game for the Pirates and only allowed one run with two strikeouts through four innings. Roberts took over in the fifth and picked up the win while not allowing a runner on base. The Pirates hosted Dyersburg on Friday.


GOSNELL- After soundly defeating the Osceola Lady Seminoles on Wednesday, the Gosnell Lady Pirates faced 4A-3 Conference rival, the Brookland Lady Bearcats, on Thursday and fell 16-1.

Lady Pirates sophomore catcher Kaylee Miller hit a solo blast in the bottom of the fifth inning but the damage was already done by the Lady Bearcats after a six-run second inning, a five-run third inning, a two-run fourth. They scored three more in the top of the fifth.

Maci Cain, senior hurler, pitched the complete game for the Lady Pirates where she fanned eight Lady Bearcat batters. The Lady Pirates traveled to EPC Friday.
