Two arrested in Gosnell for receiving 1.5 pounds of meth through the mail

Monday, February 13, 2017

Monday afternoon around 2:15 p.m., the Second Judicial District Drug Task Force (DTF) and the Gosnell Police Department (GPD) arrested two individuals in connection with receiving 1.5 pounds of methamphetamines through the U.S. Mail. Their names have not been released at this time.

Postal officials notified Gosnell Police about a suspicious package and when law enforcement officers brought in the K-9 dog, it "alerted" after smelling the package. When tested, the contents of the package were confirmed to be methamphetamines.

The person that the package was addressed to had earlier called seeking information regarding when the package would be delivered. After it was confirmed that the package contained the illegal drugs, the package was repacked and the addressee was notified they could come pick it up.

Upon taking possession of the package, members of GPD and the DTF arrested two individuals near Sonic with the drugs allegedly in their possession.

The "street value" of the drugs is estimated at $70,000.
