Mrs. Elva Michael Burks

Mrs. Elva Michael Burks passed from this life on December 24, 2016.

She was born in Rienzi, Miss. on October 29, 1924 to parents Clell and Anna Lou Michael. In her full life of 92 years, she was devoted to her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of New Liberty Baptist Church where, in her younger years, she stepped up to any job from printing the Sunday bulletin to teaching Sunday school and VBS. Elva touched the lives of many young people through her church work and many years as a 4-H club leader. Her attention to detail and push for perfection made her a valuable employee at Ark-Mo Power Co. for 20 years. She especially enjoyed her years as a member and secretary of the Dogwood Home Demonstration Club. Whatever Elva did, she put forth every effort to make it the best. Our Grandmama will be remembered for her caring nature, southern hospitality, and her many talents from baking, making candy apples, sewing, to writing minutes from her club meetings. Her best times were spent cooking for her family, having fun together at the lake, traveling in the van, and going to War Eagle Crafts Fair.

Elva is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jim Henry Burks and her parents.

She leaves two daughters, Pat Blanscet Toler (Jim) of North Little Rock and Nancy Gentry (Earl) of Memphis;

Four grandchildren, Ashley Gentry Buescher (David), Michael Lane Blanscet (Jennifer), Staci Burks Gentry, and Courtney Blanscet Green;

Eight great-grandchildren, Corinn Davis, Eve Davis, Rowan Buescher, Caroline Blanscet, Julia Blanscet, Lauren Blanscet, Josiah Wolford, and Tyler Green, and

One sister Bobbie Dugan (Doc) of Hague, Va..

Funeral services will be at Cobb Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28 with Bro. Steven Sanders officiating. Visitation will start at 10:00 followed by the service.
