Horace Henry "Pete" Hughes, Jr., 94, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Born to Horace and Emily Hughes, Pete was a retired cotton buyer and classer. He worked in cotton in New Orleans, Vicksburg, Mississippi and Blytheville. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Knights of the Columbus. Pete spent his free time reading, cooking, and watching the Cardinals play. He was an excellent caregiver for his wife, Rosemary. Pete loved his children and was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Cecilia Hughes; and sisters, Sister Mary Margaret Hughes and Emmy Lou LeBrescu.

Pete leaves his wife of 62 years, Rosemary, of the home;

Children, Gerald Paul Guillot and wife Sandra of Fayetteville, Bryant Allen Guillot and wife Vickie of Texarkana, Texas, Michael Joseph Guillot and wife Bobbie of Texarkana, Texas, Mary Ann Garren of the home, Horace Henry Hughes, III and wife Linda of Bossier City, La., Thomas Edward Hughes and wife Paula of Jonesboro, John Robert Hughes and wife Lana of Blytheville, and Edmond Dupre' Hughes and wife Angie of Armorel;

Sister, Marcia Covington of Asheville, North Carolina; and

Many grand and great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time at the church. Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blytheville.
