Mrs. Clara L. Shaw, 86, of Blytheville, died Sunday, March 6 at her home. She was born April 5, 1929 in Dell, the daughter of George and Bessie Jones Edwards.

She was an outstanding cook and was employed as a cook in several local restaurants. She worked as an employee for Dr. Stout and later became a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and other crafts.

She accepted Christ when she was young and became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, serving as an usher. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, eleven of her siblings and three children, Paulette, Betty and Fred.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Dr. Bettye J. Speed of Fresno, Texas and Mrs. Claudia Mae Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio;

Eight daughters, Mrs. Verlene (Frank) Qualls of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Mary Williams of Euclid, Ohio, Mrs. Alice (Larry) Staton of Calumet City, Ill., Mrs. Johnnie M. Patterson of Milbrae, Calif., Mrs. Thelma (Rev. Jacquin) Benson of Blytheville, Mrs. Lillie Burton of Blytheville, Mrs. Ethel Johnson of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Deborah Davis;

Three sons, Clarence (Sherry) of Marysville, Wash., James (Dorothy) Johnson of San Diego, Calif. And Steven Ray Johnson of Tulsa, Okla.;

Twenty-one grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a special brother-in-law, Sylvester Ivory of Cleveland, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1630 West Street, with Reverend Jacquin Benson officiating and eulogizing. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
