All city streets need attention

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Dear Editor:

I bought a home and moved to 815 Delmar in March 1996. At that time I noticed that Delmar St had a lot of damage to it in the east lane where it intersects with Scott St. Over the past 19 years I have watched as it has continually gotten worse with winter rains and freezing. This street has continually gotten worse with no attempt to repair it in the past 19 years.

It seems that the city can find money to do those things that will benefit a few but allow streets filled with pot holes to continue to get worse. I have come to the conclusion that if you don't complain you will just be overlooked.

Having served my country for 20 years and having pastored 4 churches in and around Blytheville, I believe in keeping things in repair. I have always found that it takes less to repair before it gets so bad as to have to replace. Had this been repaired in 1996 then it could have been done with very little, now it will cost 10 times more.
