Monday, July 6, 2015

Judy Marie Zarnes Lilly, age 62, of Manila and formerly of Blytheville passed from this life on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the South Mississippi County Medical Center in Osceola, Arkansas. Born to Harland and Elsie Mae Thompson Zarnes in Blytheville, she lived in the surrounding area for most of her life, attended the Manila First Baptist Church and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Gosnell, Arkansas. Judy was a retired Registered Nurse.

As a Nurse, she was proud of her profession and all that it represented. The knowledge and training she received was put to good use as she attended to the sick placed in her charge. However, Judy possessed skill that came not from a book but rather from her heart. She was a tender, compassionate and caring individual who shared these values and did all possible to help put an individual on the road to recovery. Knowing not everyone would receive recovery, she would utilize all her skills to aid her patient and families with as much guidance, understanding and comfort as she could. Her ability to achieve this was through her deep seated faith in God. This same faith was to also bring Judy through many times of heartache, sickness and grief.

As a wife, mother and grandmother, she worked tirelessly to help support and take care of her family. She always looked forward to the moments in her life when she was able to have her family with her. Judy was an avid reader and loved reading when she would have quiet times in her life. Judy was also an individual who would never turn down a friend in need. Her love and support for family and friends went unquestioned.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Lilly; son, Bobby Wayne Johnson Jr.; brothers, Hank Zarnes, Harland Zarnes Jr. and sisters, Marcella Whited, Bennie Zarnes and Janie Bourland.

Judy is survived by her children, Tony Johnson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Russell Holt of Stanfield, Oreg., Sherry Lilly Schmidilkofer of Hattiesburg, Miss., Kim Bullock of San Antonio, Texas;

Several grand and great grandchildren; and

Friend and companion, Michael Rice of Lancaster, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hyde officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 pm until service time and burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
