Frederick "Fred" Winston Porter, Sr. of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away at the age of 70 late Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in his home. He was born on March 18, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Frederick and Biddie Graham Porter.

Fred was very adventurous and enjoyed life. After serving in the US Air Force, he owned and operated several businesses, among which included a pet shop, a fireworks stand, a car lot, and auto salvage. After these business ventures, he earned his Master's Degree and began teaching Computer Information Systems at Garland County Community College and Ouachita Technical College. He then opened an auto salvage yard with his son, Rick.

A constant in his life was involvement in his church, where he involved in ministry for nearly 20 years, most recently as the pastor of Sabbath ay Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Biddie Porter, and one daughter, Paula Jean Porter.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Billie Jean Sharp Porter; one son, Frederick "Rick" Porter, Jr. (and Carrie) of Little Rock, Arkansas;

one daughter, Angela Compton (and Michael) of Hot Springs, Arkansas;

four grandchildren, Lauren and Jack Porter, and Gabriel and Abigail Compton;

and many other friends and relatives who loved him very much. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation for Mr. Porter will be Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at Carney Funeral Home in Blytheville, Arkansas.

Funeral Services will be Monday morning at 11:00 at Carney Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
