Gary Lynn Hardesty

Gary Lynn Hardesty, 63, of Blytheville, passed from this life Monday, April 27, 2015, at Healthsouth Rehabilitation Center in Memphis.

Born to Eugene and Edna Mae Studdards Hardesty, Gary was a mechanic and worked for several auto dealerships throughout his career. As a lifelong resident of Blytheville, Gary served on the Blytheville Emergency Squad and was of the Baptist faith. Building and flying remote controlled airplanes was a hobby of his. He also loved to race cars, boats, ATVs, 4-wheelers and dune buggies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gene Owen Hardesty.

Although never married, Gary was a great inspiration of love and sacrifice to nephew Eddie Hardesty and Jamie and great-nephew Gene Hardesty, who were brought up in his home; a sister, Louise Arnold of Collierville, Tennessee; many close relatives and friends, especially Jackie, Sybil and Bubba Riggs; and his faithful pet "Meathead," who all survive him.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Holifield officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time.
