Pastor Jimmy Lee Newmy, 91, of Blytheville, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Missouri.

Born Oct. 3, 1923, in Indola, Mississippi, to the late Jessie Newmy and Martha Perkins Newmy, he was World War II veteran in the U.S. Navy and served as a minister for 45 years. Pastor Newmy was a lifetime resident of the Blytheville area and a member of the New Jerusalem Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Mae Flagg, Pankie Redd, Blanchie Michael and Eva Carlisle.

Pastor Newmy leaves his wife, Bertha Moore Newmy of Blytheville;

Three daughters, Lena Williams of Milwaukee, and Dorothy (Donald) Jenkins and Jurlene (Don) Blair, both of Blytheville;

Four sons, Jerry Newmy of Milwaukee, Samuel (Francine) Newmy of Chicago, and Jimmy (Lois) Newmy Jr. and Joe (Bertha) Newmy, both of Blytheville;

Twenty-eight grandchildren; and

Fifty-nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at New St. Paul MB Church with the Rev. Brian Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Blytheville.
