Shirley J. Overman

Shirley J. Overman, 78, of Blytheville, passed from this life Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

She was born in Gideon, Missouri, to Walter and Eva (Penegrass) McNeal.

Shirley loved to cook, especially cakes and pies. She also enjoyed yard sales, bingo and playing games on her computer. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and her little dog, Tinker.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and 11 siblings, including her sister, Ida Bell Pearson, who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2015.

Survivors include her husband, John T. Overman of the home;

Three sons, John Thomas Overman and Deborah of Goshen, Arkansas, Bruce Overman of Blytheville and Steve Overman and Dudley Cabras of Millington, Tennessee;

A sister, Barbara Hickson of Halls, Tennessee;

Four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashley Overman, Kayla Graddy, John Russell Overman and Blake Overman;

One great-granddaughter, Bailey Grace Overman;

A special friend, Lisa McClure of Blytheville; and

A best friend, Dorothy Downing.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Hickson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
