Orville "Cotton" Morris

Orville "Cotton" Morris, 77, longtime Manila resident, died early Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center.

Born in Jonesboro, he was the son of the late Haywood and Bessie Wagner Morris and had been a lifelong area resident. Cotton was a retired farmer and auto mechanic and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Alene Clark; and a son, Gary Morris.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Thelma Atkinson Morris of Manila;

One son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Darlene Morris of Manila;

Two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri and Jim French of Paragould and Juanita and Bryan Cherry of Manila;

Two sisters, Millie Jones and Janet Rhodes, both of Leesville, Louisiana; and

Eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Morris, Michael Morris, James French, Steven Albrecht, Levie Morris and Anthony Morris. Honorary pallbearers will include James Staggs and Heath Donner.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
