Hattie C. Washington Middlebrook

Mrs. Hattie C. Washington Middlebrook, 64, of Blytheville, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at her home.

Born in Joiner to the late George and Dessie Thigpen Washington, she moved to Blytheville when she was a small child and was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Richard B. Harrison High School, Cotton Boll Vo-Tech school, Mississippi County Community College (now Arkansas Northeastern College) and Technical School with SW Bell Co.

She was a member and past national president of Harrisonites Inc., past vice president of the NAACP, a board member of Delta Research and Educational Development Board, Versatile-25 Club, member of Arkansas Association of Counties, a retiree from SouthWestern Bell Company, and a justice of the peace of the Mississippi County Quorum Court.

She worked as the housing coordinator of the Mississippi County Arkansas Economic Opportunity Commission.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie; one sister, JoCarolyn; one brother, Tommie; and one stepson, Melvin.

Mrs. Middlebrook leaves three daughters, Lynette Renee (Kevin) James of Pine Bluff, Stephanie (Roy Jr.) Patton of West Memphis, and stepdaughter Malia (Jeffery) Turner of Little Rock;

Two nephews who she reared as her sons, Jeremy Reed of Jonesboro and Jamie Reed of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;

One stepson, Michael (Carolyn) Middlebrook of Blytheville;

One sister, Betty (Willie) Larry of Little Rock;

Three brothers, Milton (Marva) Washington of Osceola, Eddie (Darlene) Washington of Peoria, Illinois, and Willie (Jeroise) Washington of Columbia, South Carolina; and

Twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville with the Rev. Johnnie E. Moore officiating. Elder Johnny F. Moore will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Whiteside Gardens Cemetery in Osceola.
