William Van Riggs Jr.

William Van Riggs Jr., 89, of Leachville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Monette Manor Nursing Center.

Born in Kennett, he was the son of the late William Van Riggs Sr., and Eula O'Neal Riggs and was raised in Leachville. He was a retired car salesman and lived much of his life in West Memphis. Following his retirement, he returned to Leachville where he was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Turnbow Riggs and his son William Van Riggs III.

He is survived by his grandson, Brandon Riggs of Richmond Hill, Ga.;

Two nieces, Barbara Stewart of Pine Bluff and Myrna Moak of Memphis; and

A brother-in law, Eugene Turnbow of Blytheville.

Funeral service will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, Sept. 6 in Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville, with Craig Edwards officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until service time.
