Rotarians learn about Friends of the NRA

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

Erica Willard Dunn recently spoke to the Blytheville Rotary Club about Friends of the National Riffle Association. She is the Friends of NRA Field Representative for Area 39, the entire state of Arkansas. Within the state of Arkansas are 26 committees that work with Dunn for the benefit of their community. Friends of NRA have several worthy objectives they work toward, but the major objective is the awarding of grants. Friends of NRA conduct various fundraising events, and the net proceeds from each fundraiser is deposited with the Foundation, a tax-exempt entity, to award grants for such things as sporting goods, the construction of shooting ranges and even the funding of school security. These are just a few examples of what grant funds can be used for in a community. Friends of NRA is separate from the National Rifle Association (NRA). None of the money donated to the NRA, including dues, goes to the Friends of NRA and no money donated to the Friends of NRA goes to support the National Rifle Association. The 2014 Mississippi County Friends of NRA dinner and auction will be held Sept. 9 at the Blytheville Country Club. For ticket information contact Bryan Dunham at 879-622-5159 or Jarold Ruck at 870-549-0804.
