Letter to the Editor

Traveler plans more stops to Blytheville

Thursday, June 19, 2014

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is a letter sent from guitarist Charles Postlewate, who recently visited Blytheville, to the night auditor at Blytheville's Holiday Inn; followed by Postlewate's note to the CN:

Dear Mario,

I write to thank you very much for returning my lost wallet to me in the early-morning hours of this past Wednesday, the 4th of June. I also write to commend you on your conscientiousness and diligence in tracking me down and locating me at the nearby Super 8 Motel where I was spending the night. When Super 8's night manager Craig Fierson awoke me at 1:30 a.m., I did not even know that my wallet was missing. My wife and I had eaten dinner from 10 'til around 11:30 at the Bistro Eleven restaurant at the Holiday Inn, and the wallet must have fallen from my pocket as I slid out of the long booth in which we were dining.

I ask you to please convey my thanks also to the cleaning staff at Bistro Eleven for finding and promptly turning in my wallet to your front desk so that you could track down its owner. What a disaster that would have been to my trip had my wallet not been safely returned to me right away as you did, with the help of the cleaning staff and Craig Fierson. You are all to be commended for your honesty and integrity in reaching out to a poor, unfortunate traveler such as I. In this world of growing indifference and disregard for the plights of others it is heartwarming and encouraging to see a place like Blytheville, Ark., that serves as a reminder that there is indeed Hope for the World!

With my appreciation and best wishes,

Charles Postlewate
Granbury, Texas

P.S.:
Actions such as this make a glowing reflection upon your fine community. As I travel periodically between Texas and Michigan, I will make my future overnight stays (if possible) in Blytheville, Ark., and spend my money for the good of your economy!
