Arthur James Hampton

Mr. Arthur James Hampton, 82, of Blytheville, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Gosnell Therapy and Living Center in Gosnell.

He was born in Widner, Ark., and moved here in 1951.

He was a member of Southside Church of Christ where he served as a Trustee.

He was employed by Hughes Construction Company and Dr. Ronald Smith. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved collecting various odds and ends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John Hampton and Mrs. Laura Wilford Hampton; his brothers, Lewis, Harvey, Ivory, Ulysses, Theodia and Waverly; his sisters, Alberta, Minnie, Kate Mae and Bobbie; and a great-grandson, Jayden Hampton.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Georgia Mae Hampton of the home;

A daughter, Mrs. Vera (and Henry) Lucas of Blytheville;

Three sons, Lee Arthur Hampton of Detroit, Eugene (and Cassandra) Hampton of Lancaster, Pa., and Elston Hampton of Memphis;

A sister, Mrs. Willie M. Allison;

A childhood friend, Daniel Allison;

Seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and

Nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home in Blytheville.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Southside Church of Christ, 1213 S. Franklin Street in Blytheville with Bro. Jesse Webb officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by McDonald-Horne Funeral Home.
