Support for veterans appreciated

Thursday, June 5, 2014

To the editor:

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 24 would like to thank all those that wore our poppies and donated to the veterans in the hospital. The donations that were given will bring crafts for those that are disabled and need something to keep them from the loneliness and helplessness they feel.

Thank you to the one that gave the $100. May you be blessed knowing you have helped so many. Thank you for wearing the red poppy in memory of all of our fallen comrades in all the wars.

It was a heart-warming sight to see all those that cared enough to come to the memorial ceremony.

The disabled veterans make the poppy to honor those that didn't come home. We have so many caring people and it makes us so proud to know they and their families will not be forgotten. May God bless all our service men and women and their families that have given up so much for our country and the freedom we have.

Extra thanks to the senior citizens, the Dixie Pig and their coffee drinkers, and most of all those who gave donations at the memorial program. Many, many thanks.
