Street Department making progress with potholes

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

To the editor:

Well, winter is over (fingers crossed) and we all know what winter weather can do to streets. Can you spell POTHOLE?

Blytheville, like every other town, has its share. We all know where they are, and even swerve around them as a matter of habit on our daily commutes. Last week, I noticed something I wanted to share and comment on. The Street Department has been working on the potholes all over town. At least the parts of town I have been in in the last week or so. They are doing a good job, too. Smooth, even patches.

Now, I know that the job of the Street Department is to, well, fix the streets. But I just wanted to say, good job, guys, and thanks for making my daily treks around our fair city smoother than they were just a week ago. It's not easy to maintain streets when they are in use, and busy.

So next time you are out and about, and see a place repaired where once a bone-jarring pothole was, just remember that someone stood on a busy street and made that repair so your ride will be smoother, and safer. Thanks to all, from the office to the shovel, who keep our streets repaired. You are appreciated by this future resident!
