Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Mrs. Jorine "Jo" Richards Woelfle, 78, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Great River Medical Center. She was born Sept. 12, 1935, to her parents, Brice Parker Richards and Eva Lee Henry Richards. She was a member of Joiner Baptist Church.

She retired as a waitress from the Vapors Supper Club in Memphis. The Vapors Supper Club was the social club in its day. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and other very popular singers would play and sing there. She worked 3-6 p.m. daily. She made so much in tips that she only had to work three hours a day!

She enjoyed participating in the activities offered at Westminster Village. She also enjoyed exercising including walking and riding her bicycle. She was a good cook and had a great sense of humor. She loved to fish and she enjoyed Facebook. She REALLY enjoyed giving advice ... whether asked for or not! She was "Dear Jo" instead of "Dear Abby." She loved her family and always enjoyed having everyone for the holidays. She loved life and was looking forward to new adventures.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Al Woelfle.

She is survived by her children, two sons, Gary (and Anna) Smithey of Fayetteville and Danny Joe (and Stefanie) Smithey of Osceola;

Two daughters, Dotti Schaffer of Shalimar, Fla., and Connie (and Mike) Simpson of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.;

One brother, Brice (and Joyce) Richards Jr. of McAllen, Texas;

One sister, Peggy (and Ross) Oakes of Blytheville; and

Eleven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, (and one on the way).

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Carney Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service begins. Condolences may be offered at www.carneyfuneralhome.com
