Mrs. Margaret Ann Mitchell McFate, 92, of Hope, passed from this life Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Wadley Regional Hospital in Texarkana.

Born in Kelso, Ark., to James Wylie and Carrie Varden Mitchell, she was a homemaker and a former member of New Liberty Baptist Church. Margaret was a lady who let her faith in God help her become the person she was. She and her husband both survived the great depression and became stronger individuals for it.

When you looked at her you saw character, honesty, resolve and love that lasted her for a lifetime. She never threw things away but could always see value in keeping it. She loved to be outdoors, working in her flower beds and just enjoying the beauty around her. Another special talent was her ability to crochet with fine threads and make bedspreads, tablecloths and just about anything she set her hands to.

Her love for people showed in that she never met a stranger and loved to talk. But more evident was her devoted love for her family and friends and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Billie O'Neal McFate; her children, Billie O'Neal McFate Jr., Thomas McFate and Billie Jean McFate.

She is survived by her son, H.D. "David" McFate and wife, Doris, of Lexington, S.C.;

A daughter, Carolyn McCorkle and husband, Ronnie, of Hope; and

Four grandchildren, Michael McFate, Brian McFate, William "Billy" McFate and Angela McCorkle Montiel.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Phillips and the Rev. Zachary Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville. Condolences to the family may be expressed at cobbfuneralhome.com
