Barbara Anne Baker

Mrs. Barbara Anne Baker, 53 of Manila, passed from this life, Monday Oct. 28, 2013, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Augsburg, Germany, she was raised in a military family and had lived in Germany, Kansas, Virginia and Georgia. Barbara was a 1978 graduate of Lithonia High School in Lithonia, Ga., and later graduated from Arkansas State University in 1982. She had been a Manila resident since 1978 and was the Career Pathways Director at Arkansas Northeastern College. She was an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Manila and was a northeast Arkansas representative for the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Bourland Gray.

Survivors include her husband, Kerry Baker of Manila;

Two daughters, Julie Baker of Paragould and Emily Baker of Manila;

Her parents, James and Billye Gale Bourland of Jonesboro;

Two grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Baker and Hayden Gage Baker, both of Paragould; and

Three sisters, Pamela Bourland Davis of Statesboro, Ga., Candace Bourland Hicks of Lubbock, Texas, and Stacie Bourland Berry of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Wayne Moore and the Rev. Ray Dill officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Carter, Alan Morris, Ernest Bearden, Danny Beene, Charles McCool and Eric Ladue. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
