High marks for community, Thunder Bayou

Friday, October 11, 2013

To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the city of Blytheville, and specifically Thunder Bayou Golf Links, for playing host to the Class 4A Boys and Girls State Golf Tournaments.

Over a two-week period, these two events brought 144 high school golfers and 500 parents, grandparents, coaches and spectators together. As tournament director, I was in contact with every one of them. They had nothing but positive comments concerning their stay in your city, and specifically about the welcome and treatment they received from the Thunder Bayou staff.

These participants and visitors were extremely impressed with the organization and professionalism shown by Head Golf Professional Tony Peterson and his staff of Ron St. Laurent and Van Rhodes. Course Superintendent Dale Fender received rave reviews for his conditioning and setup of the golf course. And all agreed that these events were enhanced by the numerous volunteers that served as monitors for these kids.

Thank you for allowing so many high school student-athletes such a quality experience.
