John K. Warriner Jr.

Mr. John K. Warriner Jr., 71, of Osceola, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Born Nov. 20, 1941, in Pine Bluff, he was a son of the late John K. Warriner Sr. and Clara Griffin Warriner. He was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. After high school, he followed his passion and studied Architecture at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree.

Mr. Warriner has practiced actively as an architect in Mississippi County since 1976, first with the Cromwell Firm and later as founder and president of John Warriner Architect & Associates. His firm specialized in educational, commercial and industrial projects, and his work can be seen throughout Mississippi County, ranging from the Child Care Facility and Youth Center Buildings at Eaker Air Force Base, the Mississippi County Community College (now Arkansas Northeastern College), the Farmers Bank, the Blytheville Credit Union, Chickasawba Hospital, the Chamber Building, and the Fire Station, all in Blytheville, to the Osceola High School, the Logan Young Complex and most recently the new elementary school in Osceola.

Mr. Warriner's personal interests were in architectural photography, community building and historic preservation -- especially in his hometown of Osceola where he had served as Chairman of Main Street Osceola and oversaw restoration of the Courthouse Dome. His photography is currently on display at the Mississippi County Historical and Genealogical Society Museum in Osceola.

He was a Member of American Institute of Architects, Rotary International, Blytheville Chamber of Commerce, Osceola Chamber of Commerce, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the U.S. Army Reserve, and First United Methodist Church in Blytheville.

Mr. Warriner married, Cheryl Jett Hale in 1991. Together they blended their families and he became a loving father to her children, as well as his own two daughters and they shared many years of memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind his wife, Cheryl Warriner of Osceola;

His daughters, Michelle Warriner Bolt and husband, Patrick, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Ashley Warriner Andrews and husband, Eric, of Durham, N.C.;

His step-children, Trey Hale, and wife, Stephanie, and Charlee Predmore, all of Blytheville;

His nine grandchildren, including, Bayless, Brandon, Alex and Taylor Bolt;

Three great-grandchildren;

His brother, David Warriner of Pine Bluff;

Along with many extended family members, friends and associates.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Blytheville with Dr. Robin Moore officiating. The family received friends before the service on Friday starting at 10: a.m. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bellwood Cemetery in Pine Bluff with the Rev. Michelle Warriner Bolt officiating with Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
