Letter to the Editor

Cemetery owner has high standards for property

Friday, September 27, 2013

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter is in response to a letter to the editor in Tuesday's Courier News from Connie Martin. That letter can be read here.

To the editor:

First, let me take the opportunity to thank Mrs. Martin for bringing the cemetery discrepancies to our attention. It's nice to know someone cares.

As the owner of Dogwood Cemetery, my cemetery employees, as well as myself, have taken great time and effort to bring the cemeteries back to a standard that other cemeteries will follow.

After serving 24 years in the military as an army aviator, my wife and I had to make a choice of where to establish a home for our three children. We have made the decision to return to the northeast Arkansas area because we believe in this area, the community, and most importantly, the people. My cemetery staff and myself invite everyone to take a drive through Dogwood, Elmwood and Memorial Park Cemeteries, then call and let us know if there is ever a problem. As long as the weather cooperates, we will continue to do our best to maintain all the cemeteries to the high standard that the people of Mississippi County have come to expect and that I demand.
