Geraldine Franklin Hicks

Mrs. Geraldine Franklin Hicks, 55, of Blytheville, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro.

She was born May 25, 1958, in Blytheville, the daughter of Emmanuel and Velma Campbell Franklin. Her mother, Velma, and her siblings Elijah, David, Emmanuel Jr., Shirley, and Gloria, preceded her in death.

She joined True Light Missionary Baptist Church when she was a child and participated in various organizations of the church. She attended Blytheville Senior High School. She had been an employee of Philbrook's Grocery Store, Old Hickory, NCO Club, Movies & More, and Best Western Motel. Geraldine enjoyed her family and friends.

She married Alonzo Hicks, the love of her life.

Survivors are her husband, Alonzo Hicks of the home;

One daughter, Mrs. Tina (and Roderick) Wells of Gosnell;

One son, Corey (and Cassandra) Hicks of Louisville;

One step-son, Christopher Hicks of Lansing, Mich.;

Her father, Emmanuel Franklin of Blytheville;

One sister, Mrs. Mary Alice (and Percy) Harden of Long Beach;

One brother, Terry (and Eva) Franklin of Blytheville; and

Eighteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at True Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 Lilly Street. The Rev. Jay Slaughter, Pastor, will deliver the eulogy and the Rev. Adron Poole will give Words of Comfort. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Gardens Cemetery.
