Mary Fleeman Martin

Mrs. Mary Fleeman Martin, 82, of Conway, formerly of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Salem Place Nursing Home & Rehabilitation. She was born near Manila Feb. 1, 1931, to her parents John and Nora Fleeman.

Mrs. Martin was a member of Church of Christ at Main and 13th, Blytheville, where she attended faithfully every Sunday until her health declined.

She was a graduate of Arkansas State College in Jonesboro, was a school teacher and retired after 30 years of teaching elementary school, second grade, in Blytheville. According to her children she was a great cook and lovingly took care of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William Martin; her parents, John and Nora Fleeman; three sisters, Secil Jolliff, Glenda Turnbow and Jewel McCulloch; six brothers, Odell Fleeman, Olan Fleeman, Elton Fleeman, Alonzo Fleeman, Bob Fleeman and Layton Fleeman.

She is survived by her son, Brent (and Laura) Martin of Blytheville;

Her daughter, Risa (and Mark) Evans, of Conway;

Five grandchildren, Steven (and Jennifer) Hyatt Jr., Susan Hyatt (and Chris) Beverly and Shawn Hyatt (and Matthew) Rateliff, all of Conway, and Sarah Martin and Hannah Martin of Blytheville;

Three great-grandchildren and two on the way; and

One sister, Bessie Fleeman Wilbanks of Flint, Mich.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today Thursday in Manila Cemetery with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Carney Funeral Home of Blytheville is in charge of arrangements. Donations can be made to the Arkansas Alzheimer's Association. Condolences may be offered at www.carneyfuneralhome.com
